Cairngorms National Park

Britain’s highest and largest mountain range, the Cairngorms is home to some truly spectacular scenery. Native forests, clear rivers and lochs bisect rolling moorland that’s host to an array of plant and animal life. Situated in the heart of the Scottish Highlands is a sprawling expanse of unspoiled land that attracts hikers, bikers and other outdoor types. Now in its tenth year as a national park, the Cairngorms is regarded as a prime conservation area. During the course of exploring the park, you might be privileged to spot some of the rare creatures that make its hills and valleys their home. Three of Scotland’s five ski centres are located within the park. These enjoy action all the year round, for skiing and snowboarding during the winter months, while in the summer the lofty peaks attract mountain bikers and walkers. If you’ve ever fancied ‘bagging’ a few Munros, this is the place to start. A series of high and low ground walking trails criss-cross the Cairngorms, with hiking expeditions available to suit walkers of all abilities. Finally, with its clean rivers, the Cairngorms is renowned for fishing and watersports including kayaking, sailing and windsurfing.
